Tutor’s Foreword

Dear students,

Thank you for visiting my website.

With an immense passion in Economics, I have founded JCEconomics.com to share my wealth of knowledge and help students comprehend the subject better.

As you may be aware, in the GCE ‘A’ level examination, there is now less emphasis on testing the lower-order thinking skills of knowledge and comprehension. In order to do well for the examination, you must show evidence of higher order thinking skills (Application, Analysis, Synthesis and Evaluation) in your answers. Regurgitation of lecture notes will weaken your ability to achieve the highest level of response in the Economics paper. You will need to be able to explain current economic events in terms of the relevant economic principles learnt.

You also need to integrate the different topics learnt to construct a coherent line of argument and reconcile conflicting ideas. In addition, you must also be able to evaluate the effectiveness and limitations of the various economic policies learnt in the lecture notes. Finally, most importantly, your ideas must ‘flow’ from one to another, be logical, clear and concise. Examiners reward “quality” rather than “quantity” of response given in the essays. Bearing the above in mind, apart from teaching the concepts required by the syllabus, my lessons are constantly peppered with real world Economic events and personal anecdotes.

All the JC Economics classes are taught personally by me to ensure a high quality of delivery. My former students have moved on and continued to excel academically at top local and overseas universities such as University of Cambridge and London School of Economics and Political Science. I share the great joy and satisfaction my students achieve at the end of the day.

I am confident that under my coaching, Economics will be made simpler and more enjoyable for you. Aceing Economics will no longer be a far-fetched dream. It can now be achieved.
